The Fourth Commandment – Part 4 – What did Y’shua do?

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Sabbath

We have learned from the three previous studies, who changed the fourth commandment, why we should keep it, and how to keep it. The big question is: what did Y’shua and His apostles do? We shall now study the Apostolic Scriptures to see what Y’shua did and taught. He is our Master, and we are His disciples. We are, as believers in Him, formed into His likeness when we believe in Him and are obedient to Him.

This article is the third in the series on the fourth commandment. We have learned in the previous two articles how the Sabbath was changed from the seventh day to the first, and we also learned the reasons for observing this day. In this article we shall study the instructions for this special day. The Scripture is overflowing with detailed instructions as to how we are to observe this day. The essence of the Sabbath is rest and the instructions for the keeping of the Sabbath revolve around preparation. Here are twelve points to ponder about the observance of the Sabbath.

In this article, we will look at the reasons for keeping the seventh day Sabbath. What would be the physical and spiritual significance in observing this commandment? We shall also look at the Sabbath as the sign of YHVH and its importance and relation to the seal spoken of in Revelation contrary to the mark of the beast.

The Fourth Commandment – Part 1 – Who Changed It?

Our Father is a loving Father, and it is His desire to bless us. He is good, and His Word is good. He created the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested. He blessed this day and sanctified it. He made the seventh day; a day set apart from the other, a day of rest and refreshment.

He blessed us by giving us this gift of the Sabbath, a day to spend in His presence, a day to renew our strength physically and spiritually. The sad thing is, His gift was exchanged for another. His instructions were exchanged for man’s. He never commanded the first day of the week as a rest day! There is not a single reference in Scripture to support this change.

I want to urge you to consider this. The Sabbath is not just any day of the week; it is a very special day, a day set apart by the Creator of heaven and earth Himself. Man does not have the authority to change this, and yet he has. However, you are not a follower of man; you would not be studying this topic, if you were. He wants you to know the truth; His truth. Do not delay in learning this, it is very important.
