Y’shua in prophecy – Part 1- Psalm 22

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Messiah

We will, in this walk as believers in Y’shua, be confronted with people who do not believe in Y’shua. Some may want to talk to us about our belief in Y’shua as the Messiah. Some will challenge us. Is your faith and your understanding of prophecy such that you will not doubt, but stand firm in your belief? Can you prove from the Tanakh that Y’shua is indeed the prophesied Messiah?

We need to equip ourselves, because as we have said before, there are many people out there that will try anything to convince us that we are wrong, they will attempt to sow doubt in our minds. If we do not have a firm foundation, we will start to doubt, and if we hear the lies often enough, we may start to believe them. This article is the first in a series to help equip you to be able to stand firm.

They say there are giants in the land…

This probably sounds like something out of a fable, but it’s very real. We all have experience with giants in our lives. Allow us to explain…
We all face trails from time to time. Difficult trials, that overwhelm us with such an intensity that we do not know where to turn to or what to do. These trials may be due to a bad report. You may be facing this right now, even amidst other trials. When you hear this report, your whole world may be crushing down in front of your eyes. These bad reports are like the message the Israelites were confronted with when the spies returned and reported back about the land. They reported of giants and saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to them.
The Israelites, having already been stretched a bit by what has happened to them since they left Egypt, now has to face this bad report. It has been more than a year of difficulties and now this. It must have been quite overwhelming to them.

Have you experienced such a situation?

Mikvah – Part 2 – How to

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Training in righteousness

When we study the Scriptures, we usually conclude that going into a mikvah is predominantly for reasons of ritual purity. However, when we search more, we learn that sin causes spiritual uncleanness. For this reason, we are to immerse ourselves when we come to faith. This immersion is symbolic of our cleansing and being a new creature in Y’shua. This act of immersing ourselves in faith brings us closer to YHVH. Just understand that immersion is not what removes our sin or uncleanness. We have learned in the previous article Who the source of living water is, He cleanses us, not our act of immersion.

So, if we want to immerse ourselves, how are we to do this?

Mikvah – Part 1 – Spiritual cleansing

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Training in righteousness

You probably have heard someone say they have gone into a mikvah, or that they have immersed themselves in water for some spiritual purpose. We have done it a couple of times ourselves, without really knowing the significance of it. We immersed ourselves when we became believers, then again, when we became Torah observant and again three years ago when we went to Israel. We felt a need to be immersed in the Jordan river, not knowing that it would be quite significant for us. We shall share more about this later. So what is the significance of going into a mikvah, if anything? What does Scripture teach us?
