The first Passover and the commemoration of it

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Pesach

It is almost time for Passover or Pesach, the first festival of the new biblical year. We find it necessary to re-read all the instructions before every feast. This ensures that we celebrate the festival according to the commandments given by YHVH. We tend to sometimes forget some of the detail…

There are many different ideas on how we are to celebrate this feast. Some teach that we are to slaughter a lamb and put the blood on the doorposts and lintel. We believe that we must differentiate between the first Passover and the commemoration thereof. We will supply you with scriptural proof to show you why we are not to slaughter a lamb, in our dwellings, as part of our celebration of the Passover.

Beacon fire used to signal the start of the month

We have explained why we follow the Sighted Moon /Aviv Calendar. Judaism today follows the calendar introduced by Hillel II in 359 C.E. Hillel was not the originator of the changes to the calendar. The changes started much earlier. In this article we will explain what these changes are and why we do not follow the calendar of Judah.

Which calendar did Y’shua follow?

It is almost time for the new biblical year to begin, depending on which calendar you use. Which calendar to use is no easy decision and the topic of the calendar can even be controversial. The calendar is certainly not a salvation issue, there should be no arguing about it. It should not divide us, and yet it does. This is not new, there had been division over calendars even in the time of Y’shua.

There are so many different calendars and each one following their respective calendar believe they are right. There is the Sighted moon calendar, the Hillel 2 calendar(commonly known as the Jewish calendar), the Conjunction or dark moon calendar, the Essene calendar to name but a few. You will also find calendars where the vernal equinox is used to determine the start of the new year and others where the barley is used for this purpose.

It is not our purpose to go into the detail of each of these, instead we want to approach this from a different angle. Join us as we find out which calendar Y’shua used when He was here on earth…

Without this, no one will see YHVH

When we read the word holy, we usually get a picture in our mind of someone with a halo around their head, as depicted in some of the early paintings. Alternatively, we may picture someone who is a real prude with a life devoid of fun. What do you picture in your mind when you hear the word holiness? You may have guessed by now what the “this” in the heading refers to. Without holiness, no one will see YHVH…
