Mind control and fear

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Set apart living, Spiritual Warfare, Training in righteousness

Modern media have made it possible for us to be “involved” in multiple wars, while at the same time know of every brutal murder, robbery or shooting that has taken place and in every graphic detail. The question is, do we really have to know so much detail? What purpose does it serve? What is the agenda behind this? The other question is: how much of this is really true and how much is manipulated? Then you have all the conspiracy theories on the internet…

We are influenced by all this without realizing it. We are willingly submitting to whatever agenda is promoted. Fear is often used as a means to control. How are we to deal with this? We have studied the Scriptures to find out how we are to deal with this and share our findings in this article. May it bless and help you!

Always wanting more…Covetousness is idolatry

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Training in righteousness

We all need material things; we need furniture, a roof over our heads, clothes to wear and many other things. However, when does this need to have things turn into just wanting things for the sake of having it? When is wanting stuff covetousness? In the epistle to the Colossians, Paul said that covetousness amounted to idolatry. When I read this, I felt convicted, because I like nice things. I do really want a beautiful garden and a cozy, nicely decorated home. I want good home school resources to teach our children and many other things. Does this mean that I practice idolatry? Does this mean that we are not to look at material things or want them for ourselves? Are we required to look away when we see something nice in order not to want it? This is indeed a tricky question. Let us look what is taught in scripture.
