A Practical guide for the Passover Season

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Appointed times, First Fruits, Pesach, Unleavened Bread

YHVH gave us His appointed times, firstly, as memorials and secondly as rehearsals to teach us His ways. When we discover His truth, He guides us to follow the ancient paths, His paths. His ways are described in His Word; His rest day, His feasts and His instructions to guide us in our lives. He gave these instructions not to put a burden on us, but to give us life.

In this article, we shall focus on the practical observance of the Feast of Passover, Unleavened bread and First fruits. These are the first feasts of the new biblical year. We also include a Haggadah for you to print out and use during your seder meal. May you have a blessed passover season!

Which calendar did Y’shua follow?

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Appointed times

It is almost time for the new biblical year to begin, depending on which calendar you use. Which calendar to use is no easy decision and the topic of the calendar can even be controversial. The calendar is certainly not a salvation issue, there should be no arguing about it. It should not divide us, and yet it does. This is not new, there had been division over calendars even in the time of Y’shua.

There are so many different calendars and each one following their respective calendar believe they are right. There is the Sighted moon calendar, the Hillel 2 calendar(commonly known as the Jewish calendar), the Conjunction or dark moon calendar, the Essene calendar to name but a few. You will also find calendars where the vernal equinox is used to determine the start of the new year and others where the barley is used for this purpose.

It is not our purpose to go into the detail of each of these, instead we want to approach this from a different angle. Join us as we find out which calendar Y’shua used when He was here on earth…

“You shall have a holy convocation”

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Appointed times, Sabbath

This may seem like a strange title for an article, but it is not so strange after all. Do you know what it means to have a holy convocation? I thought I did, until I did this study. This study was prompted by a dear friend who asked the question: are we commanded to assemble on the Sabbath? This is a good question, with a unexpected answer. Assembling on the Sabbath and Feast days with like minded believers is a huge blessing, but is this what is commanded with the words “you shall have a holy convocation?”
