What is implied when Peter writes, “one day is like a thousand years” (2 Pet 3:8)? Is this a literal thousand years? We have been taught to believe that; I for one have never questioned it before. We also have to determine the context and how broad we can apply it. This study started out as a quick look-up of this phrase but, as I studied, I realized that it is a key to understanding some of the Bible prophecies.

Just take a look around you! There is widespread famine, tropical storms, earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars, financial hardship, moral decay and infertility. The whole earth seems to be in turmoil. Is this the beginning of the end times? Are we experiencing what Y’shua described to His disciples in Matthew 24? Are these purely natural events or are these calls from Yahovah? Do you know the cyclical pattern of punishment described in Scripture and the sequence in which these punishements occur? What will happen next and what are we to do?
In the last couple of weeks and months we have seen some more end-time prophecies and conspiracy theories doing the rounds and leading a lot of believers astray. When we are thinking about these end time topics, were are in good company. The disciples of our Master were also discussing the topic, but they had the advantage of asking Him the question directly. They asked Him how we will know that the end of age has come. Lots of us can easily quote His words on earthquakes and rumours of wars, but most miss the first part of His instruction. This article will do a more detailed study on this first part of the answer that most believers seem to miss. – Take heed that no one leads you astray!
I often ask myself the question: Are we nearing the end of days? Are we entering into the latter part of our last seven years on earth? It is said that even the unbelievers believe that earth’s time is running out. Speculation of a brown dwarf or comet named Elenin coming our way…. What is the truth? Can we find any truth in the world nowadays? The internet is full of articles proving and disproving the very same thing. What are we to believe?
How do we separate the truth from the lie and should we even attempt to do so?
I believe that we should be different to the people in the world – we are set apart people. Set apart to and by YHVH!
