Yom Kippurim and the sins of our fathers

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Yom Kippur

When we consider the world, we may be led to mistakenly believe that we can sin with impunity. However, sin without consequence does not exist. It may appear that ungodly people prosper more than the godly. They seem to be blessed in all areas of their lives, but if you look deeper, you will often find emptiness, heartache and depression. Sadly, this doesn’t seem to be unique to unbelievers, we find the same pain amongst believers. This pain in both groups is eased with obsessions or addictions: work, ministry, prescription drugs, alcohol, co-dependent relationships, sex or thrills.

We said that sin without punishment does not exist, but we don’t always see this punishment. How are we to understand this?

The Way of the Nations

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in repentance, restoration, Spiritual Warfare

There are two ways we can follow in life: the way of YHVH or the way of the nations. YHVH has given us free will so we choose which way we follow. However, even if we think we follow YHVH’s way, we might, unknowingly, be following the way of the nations. The way of the nations may inadvertently have infiltrated our lives in some form. In order to determine what this means and if my statement is true or not, we need to define “the way of the nations.” It can be defined as anything contrary to YHVH’s word or ways.

Free from Captivity

We become holy or set apart by the process of sanctification. YHVH wants us to be set apart people for Him. Sanctification is the process of removing everything that causes separation between us and YHVH. The process of sanctification started for us with obedience to His Word. As we learned how YHVH wanted us to live, we left behind the ways of the world and followed His way. We repented of our lawlessness and became more sanctified. this is an ongoing process, it is a journey. There is, however, more to the process of sanctification. I know this since I have experienced this, I felt that something was holding me back spiritually and I didn’t know what it was. I found the answer in getting free from the captivity caused by the iniquity of my forefathers. This is also a part of this sanctification process and many people don’t realize they they are being held captive.

The sins of our fathers and Shavuot

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Shavuot

Shavuot is known as the Feast of Proclamation. This is what each of us are to do on this day; make a proclamation! What are we to proclaim? We are to call out to Abba YHVH, confessing our iniquity and the iniquity of our fathers. Why do we have to do this and how?
