When we read the word holy, we usually get a picture in our mind of someone with a halo around their head, as depicted in some of the early paintings. Alternatively, we may picture someone who is a real prude with a life devoid of fun. What do you picture in your mind when you hear the word holiness? You may have guessed by now what the “this” in the heading refers to. Without holiness, no one will see YHVH…

To eat or not to eat, what is the Scriptural standard?

What is the scriptural standard with regards to eating? How are we to understand these instructions and what is the physical and spiritual significance when we obey? Keeping these dietary instructions is commonly referred to as keeping kosher. The word “kosher” or “kasher” means proper, pure or acceptable. If we say we eat “kosher” we eat what is permissible in accordance with dietary instructions in Scripture.

Judge not … and what about unity?

We are entering into the latter part of the Cycle of Righteousness – YHVH’s Fall Feasts! Yom T’Ruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot. With every Cycle of Righteousness we get the opportunity to learn more. Every Feast we celebrate is not just a repeat performance of what we did the previous year, but an opportunity to learn more about YHVH and His plan of redemption for mankind. With this opportunity comes a lot of study and sharing but it also can create some contention amongst brothers and sisters. How should we view this? Is it good to have different opinions or should we all think the same, believe the same and do the same? Does it create disunity if we differ in opinion? It shouldn’t!
