Yom Kippurim and the sins of our fathers

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Yom Kippur

When we consider the world, we may be led to mistakenly believe that we can sin with impunity. However, sin without consequence does not exist. It may appear that ungodly people prosper more than the godly. They seem to be blessed in all areas of their lives, but if you look deeper, you will often find emptiness, heartache and depression. Sadly, this doesn’t seem to be unique to unbelievers, we find the same pain amongst believers. This pain in both groups is eased with obsessions or addictions: work, ministry, prescription drugs, alcohol, co-dependent relationships, sex or thrills.

We said that sin without punishment does not exist, but we don’t always see this punishment. How are we to understand this?

Generational curses and curses spoken over us

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Spiritual Warfare

In our previous article, we have looked at blessings and curses from YHVH’ s perspective and also from ours as believers. We have learned how powerful a blessing and a curse can be. When we bless somebody and invoke YHVH’s name, He is the power behind that blessing, if it is according to His will. Blessings or curses spoken over us by unbelievers can also have an effect in our lives. Allow me to explain.

National and Personal redemption, both are required

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in repentance

“The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.”(Eze 18:20)

The Apostle Paul also teaches that we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12)

Each of us is responsible for him or herself in the sense that we are to repent of our own sins when we become aware of it. However, there is something to be said about national repentance and redemption. There is much proof of this in Scripture. How are we to understand and apply this in our lives?
