Origin of New Year on January 1st

Should we as set apart people be celebrating this when the Scriptures specifically mentions that the 1st of Abib should be the first month

Exo 12:2  
“This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you.

Leviticus 23:5
‘In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, between the evenings, is the Passover to YHVH.
