The Significance of the Blood of Y’shua

There is great significance in the blood of Y’shua. So much, you will be amazed by it. Although, I think we don’t have a full understanding yet. Our human minds cannot fully comprehend the things of YHVH, yet sometimes He gives a glimpse. This seems to me like one of those times. This study has revealed much about YHVH’s plan of redemption and the role Y’shua has in it. In this article, we will focus on the significance of the blood of Y’shua and how much people throw away when they choose to deny Him as their Messiah. This is an important topic and very actual. Many people come to the truth that the Torah has not been done away with and then go and reject the Living Torah. This is a great deception. Please read this and share.

We will first seek to understand what is meant in Scripture by the blood of Y’shua. We will first look at the significance of blood from the beginning.

Blood is a central theme throughout Scripture. The Hebrew word “dam” is used 360 times in the Tanakh and the Greek word “haima” is used 97 times in the Apostolic Scriptures.

Blood in the Tanakh

There are a few themes coming through when you study the word blood in the Tanakh. We will not be going into great detail here, but want to use this to illustrate something to you.

Life is in the blood

Genesis 9:4
4 “Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

YHVH had a specific reason for not allowing blood to be eaten. It is interesting how this is one of the perversions people crave when they worship ha satan. It has always been a delicacy among many different nations. When I googled “blood sausage,” I was shocked to see how many nations has this or something similar as a traditional dish.

YHVH said the life is in the blood and we are, for that reason, not to eat any blood. Those who do will be cut off.

Leviticus 17:10–14
10 ‘And any man from the house of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. 11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’ 12 “Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘No person among you may eat blood, nor may any alien who sojourns among you eat blood.’ 13 “So when any man from the sons of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, in hunting catches a beast or a bird which may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth. 14 “For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’

We won’t be going into why YHVH commanded this, for we know He always has our best interests at heart. Be assured that there is spiritual, but also physical reasons for this.

Shedding blood is associated with death

Shedding blood has always meant death and he who sheds blood, his blood shall be shed.

Genesis 9:6
6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of Elohim He made man.

Blood is a sign of deliverance

Blood on the doorposts was the sign required to be delivered from the plague of death.

Exodus 12:7
7 ‘Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.

Redemption, blood atones for sin

The sacrificial system attests that blood atones for sin. The sacrificial system was in place from the beginning. We see how Abel brought YHVH a sacrifice of his best. Noah sacrificed to YHVH, Abraham did too. Job did sin offerings for his children and he may have lived before or at the same time as the patriarchs.

YHVH gave special instructions for sacrifices at Mount Sinai. Some, like the burnt offering, was given especially to make atonement for sin.

Leviticus 1:4–5
4 ‘He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, that it may be accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf. 5 ‘He shall slay the young bull before YHVH; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer up the blood and sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.

Blood is also a sign of the covenant

Blood was shed when Abraham circumcised himself and his household. That was a blood covenant. Moses sprinkled blood on the people as a sign of the covenant.

Exodus 24:8
8 So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant, which YHVH has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

Blood was used to cleanse defilement

When land was defiled by bloodshed, it had to be cleansed with blood. When land was defiled by idolatry, sexual immorality or by breaking covenants, the people paid for this sin with their blood through war and captivity. We have written more about this in the article about defiled land. Here is a verse about how a house was cleansed with blood.

Leviticus 14:52
52 “He shall thus cleanse the house with the blood of the bird and with the running water, along with the live bird and with the cedar wood and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet string.

The blood of sacrifices also cleansed from uncleanness for example after childbirth.

Blood was used to cleanse and consecrate

The tabernacle, utensils and priests were cleansed and consecrated with blood.

Leviticus 8:30
30 So Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood which was on the altar, and sprinkled it on Aaron, on his garments, on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him; and he consecrated Aaron, his garments, and his sons, and the garments of his sons with him.

Leviticus 16:18–19
18 “Then he shall go out to the altar that is before YHVH and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the blood of the goat and put it on the horns of the altar on all sides. 19 “With his finger he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times and cleanse it, and from the impurities of the sons of Israel consecrate it.

We are just touching on this to show you how the Tanakh and the Apostolic writings are one. The Apostolic writings built on the Tanakh. YHVH is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He did not lie or change His mind, but the revelation of his plan in scripture is progressive. The whole Bible is inspired by Him and it teaches us His plan of redemption. Y’shua was and is part of this plan from the beginning. YHVH knew from the beginning what would be required to redeem man. It was prophesied of Y’shua already in the garden of Eden

Genesis 3:15
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”

Her seed” refers to Y’shua Who will crush ha satan’s head, while being bruised on the heel, referring to His death on the stake. So, from this, we know that YHVH did not at some stage became exasperated with humankind and decided to change the entire plan, as it is taught. He had a plan from the beginning and what we read from Genesis to Revelation is that plan. The sacrificial system was put in place to teach about Y’shua’s atoning sacrifice and it will remain. We read in the prophecies that the sacrifices will continue (Zech 14:21; Eze 40:38,39). When we look at all the Scriptures about the function of blood in the Tanakh, we see a picture of Y’shua. Allow me to explain by looking at what Y’shua’s blood represents.

What does the term “the blood of Y’shua” represent?

The term “through the blood of Y’shua” is used often in the Apostolic writings. We are going to look at these scriptures and compare it to what we found in the Tanakh.

Cleansing

Hebrews 9:14
14 how much more will the blood of Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to Elohim, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living Elohim?

2751 καθαρίζω (katharizō): vb.; ≡ DBLHebr 3197; Str 2511; TDNT 3.413—1. LN 79.49 make clean, cleanse (Mt 23:25, 26; Lk 11:39); 2. LN 53.28 purify, ceremonially cleanse by washing (Ac 10:15; Lk 11:2 v.r.); 3. LN 23.137 heal, and so make it possible to be ritually cleansed (Mt 8:2, 3)2

To cleanse your conscience is to make it clean or to heal it. The blood of Y’shua, if we accept His sacrifice on our behalf, has the power to cleanse or heal our conscience. If, however, we don’t accept His atoning death on our behalf, we will constantly feel condemned.

Revelation 7:14
14 I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

They have washed their robes and made them white with the blood of the Lamb. The metaphor, which only gains power from being contradictory when taken literally, means that those who did not capitulate under persecution have become clean and are regarded by God as sinless (compare Isaiah 1:18) because they have remained faithful to Yeshua, who shed his blood for them (see 1:7&N). 3

Not only are our conscience cleansed, but we become new creations in Y’shua.

A New Beginning

Becoming a believer is literally a new beginning. To become a believer in Y’shua is like being born again.

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Psalm 103:12
12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Romans 6:4
4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Messiah was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

Eternal redemption

YHVH gave the sacrificial system as a means to atone for sin.

Leviticus 17:11
11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’

This atonement is not eternal. Sacrifices were required continuously. Y’shua through His sacrificial death obtained eternal redemption for all.

Hebrews 9:12
12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Through His redemption, we have forgiveness of our sins.

Colossians 1:13–14
13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Ephesians 1:7
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
Revelation 1:5
5 and from Y’shua Messiah, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood—

Why do we need this redemption if we can be righteous by keeping YHVH’s commandments?

Romans 8:1–4
1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Messiah Y’shua. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Y’shua has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, YHVH did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

The answer is, we cannot keep YHVH’s commandments perfectly. We read here in Romans of three laws: the law of the Spirit, which will guide us to do YHVH’s commandments, the law of sin, which is our sinful nature and the law, which is YHVH’s commandments. The law or commandments cannot set us free from our sinful nature, but the law of the spirit can, which we have, if we believe in Y’shua. YHVH sent Y’shua to fulfill the requirement of the law which is death for those who don’t keep it. Y’shua took this punishment upon Himself and paid the full price. He redeemed us by being our kinsman redeemer.

Y’shua as the Kinsman Redeemer

Y’shua is our Kinsman Redeemer, He paid the full redemption price for us. In a previous article The Kinsman Redeemer -Redemption – Part 2 , we explain how Y’shua fulfilled this role. You can read all three parts of this series for a better understanding of redemption and Y’shua’s redemptive work.

The price Y’shua paid was His life, metaphorically referred to as His blood.

1 Peter 1:18–19
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Messiah.
Acts 20:28
28 “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of Elohim which He purchased with His own blood.
Revelation 5:9
9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for Elohim with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

Redemption for gentiles

In the previous verse, we read that Y’shua purchased, with His blood, people from every tribe and tongue and nation. This includes gentiles.

Ephesians 2:13
13 But now in Messiah Y’shua you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Messiah.
Romans 5:6
6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Messiah died for the ungodly.

Y’shua died for all people from all nations. He made it possible for those who were not part of Israel to become part of Israel. From the above examples, we see how what is written about blood in the Tanakh, was fulfilled in Y’shua. Take note, fulfilled does not mean to take away, it means “to fill up with meaning.

Eternal life

Life is in the blood, eternal life through Y’shua’s blood.

John 3:16
16 “For Elohim so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:36
36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of Elohim abides on him.”

The blood of Y’shua did not only fulfilled what was written about blood in the Tanakh. YHVH also bestow special gifts to us through the blood of Y’shua. One of these is spiritual authority.

Spiritual authority

Y’shua has power over death and darkness. He has authority over ha satan and his demons; over everything in heaven and earth and under the earth.

Matthew 28:18
18 And Y’shua came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

This is because of Y’shua’s sacrificial death

Philippians 2:6–11
6 who, although He existed in the form of Elohim, did not regard equality with Elohim a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, Elohim highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Y’shua every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Y’shua Messiah is Lord, to the glory of Elohim the Father.

Hebrews 2:14
14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

If we are in Him, we have the same authority.

Luke 9:1
1 And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.

This authority was not only given to the twelve.

Luke 10:17
17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Master, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

Luke 10:18–19
18 And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. 19 “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

When Y’shua spoke of serpents and scorpions, He could have referred to Ps 91:13. This could imply spiritual beings. The context of the passage alludes to that.

Luke 10:20
20 “Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

We have the same authority in Y’shua for it is written:

Mark 16:17–18
17 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

1 John 4:4
4 You are from Elohim, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

Revelation 12:10–11
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our Elohim and the authority of His Messiah have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our Elohim day and night. 11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

It speaks of those who believe in Y’shua and keep the commandments of YHVH. They are the over-comers because of or through the blood of Y’shua.

Once again a reference to the blood of Messiah. All of this is possible because of Y’shua’s sacrificial death. Through His death and resurrection, He made it possible for us, to have this authority over demons and sickness through faith in Him. Y’shua’s sacrificial death was not some insignificant event or mythological tale, YHVH had a plan to save mankind from himself. This was only possible if the judicial side was taken care of. That means, Y’shua had to take our sin upon Himself and take the punishment that was due to us as transgressors of YHVH’s law. Through this, He made it possible for us to come before the Father and be reconciled to Him. Y’shua restored our relationship with the Father for us and He also gave us the Set apart Spirit to make it possible for us to live in obedience to YHVH.

The Holy Spirit

It is written about YHVH:

John 3:34
34 “For He whom Elohim has sent speaks the words of Elohim; for He gives the Spirit without measure.

When we read in the Tanakh, we learn that YHVH gave the Holy Spirit to certain people: prophets, righteous kings and priests and a few other righteous individuals in order to empower them to do His will.

King Saul is a good example, YHVH gave him the Holy Spirit when he was anointed as king, but later removed the Spirit from him because of his unrighteousness and even sent an evil spirit to torment him. There are many more who had the Holy Spirit in them: Elijah, Elisha, King David. We often read “and the Spirit of YHVH came upon him or them” (Num 11:25–29; 24:2) and many times in the book of Judges (Judg 3:10,Judg 13:25, Judg 14:6 and Judg 14:19). These are a few examples to show you how YHVH’s Spirit was given to specific people to fulfill a role.

When we read in the Apostolic Scripture, we read about how John the Baptist was filled with the holy Spirit while he was still in his mother’s womb.

Luke 1:15
15 “For he will be great in the sight of YHVH; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.

We note a difference between before Y’shua’s ascension and thereafter. After Y’shua was taken up into heaven, the Holy Spirit was given as a gift to those who believed in Him.

Y’shua spoke of this promise before His ascension.

Luke 24:49
49 “And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Acts 1:4–5
4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Then on Shavuot, they received this promise

Acts 2:1–4
1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.

Acts 2:33
33 “Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of Elohim, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.

There were people there who did not yet believe in Y’shua.

Acts 2:38–39
38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Y’shua Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 “For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as YHVH our Elohim will call to Himself.”

Peter said here that this promise is not just for a select few, but for everybody who YHVH calls to Himself.

Thus far, we have learned what the blood of Y’shua’s symbolizes and accomplished for us. His blood cleanses us, we have eternal redemption because of His shed blood, even Gentiles are included. We have spiritual authority through His blood and His shed blood made it possible for us to receive YHVH’s Set apart Spirit.

We read in Revelation of 144 000 who will be marked with a sign on their foreheads. This 144 000 will be protected from harm by this special mark.

The 144 000

Revelation 7:2–4
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living Elohim; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our Elohim on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

Revelation 9:4
4 They were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the seal of Elohim on their foreheads.

What is this seal?

5382 σφραγίς (sphragis), ῖδος (idos), ἡ (hē): n.fem.; ≡ Str 4973; TDNT 7.939—1. LN 6.54 signet (an object that is used with wax to seal a letter) (Rev 7:2); 2. LN 6.62 seal, the wax impressed by the signet (Rev 5:2), for another focus, see next two; 3. LN 33.483 mark (Rev 9:4); 4. LN 33.47 inscription, the mark or impression made by a seal or stamp (2Ti 2:19); 5. LN 73.9 proof of genuineness (1Co 9:2), note: there may be overlap of verses and entries 2

We find the answer in Revelation 14:

Revelation 14:1
1 Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads.

The seal is a mark comparable to what was used to seal and authenticate official documents sent by the king or ruler. In this case the seal would contain the name of the Father and His son Y’shua. Those who are sealed, belong to YHVH, they have been purchased by the blood of Y’shua.

2 Timothy 2:19
19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of Elohim stands, having this seal, “YHVH knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of YHVH is to abstain from wickedness.”

When we read about those who overcome, we see they are those who have faith in Y’shua and do the commandments of YHVH.

Revelation 14:12
12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of Elohim and their faith in Y’shua.

Denying Y’shua

Considering all this, how can people make light of what Y’shua did? How can people even think of denying Him, in essence declaring what He has done as worthless? In Revelation, we read that those who overcome are the ones who hold to the testimony of Y’shua and keep YHVH’s commandments. How can we think it is enough to keep YHVH’s commandments, if we cannot do it perfectly?

How can we discard His gift to us for some temporal fellowship? It is written in Scripture that the Jewish people will also believe in Him and we are seeing it more and more. It is so sad to see so many people going this way, denying Y’shua because of the influence of others. This will get worse, Y’shua warned that we are to see to it that we are not deceived. We are to see to it. How? By studying the Scripture for ourselves and not following others. There are some very influential anti-missionaries out there and for some, the quest for knowledge is so intense, that they throw all caution to the wind and let themselves be influenced because they believe they can learn so much from these people. These people may know much, but they also sow little seeds of doubt. Be careful! We have seen many deny Y’shua because of this. This is not new either.

Hebrews 6:4–6
4 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of Elohim and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of Elohim and put Him to open shame.

David Stern explains this passage as follows:

Here is a review of the author’s argument in these verses. He speaks of people who have

(1) once been enlightened, so that they know who Yeshua is and what he has done;

(2) tasted the heavenly gift of God’s forgiveness;

(3) become sharers in the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit whom God gives only through his Son Yeshua (this terminology makes it impossible that the author is referring to pseudo-believers, because only true believers become sharers in the Ruach HaKodesh);

(4) tasted the goodness (compare Psalm 34:8) of God’s Word and

(5) tasted the powers of the ˓olam haba, which is interesting terminology for the gifts of the Holy Spirit as enumerated in 1C 12:8–10

When people who have experienced salvation in such a deep way and then have fallen away from faith by trusting not in Yeshua’s own sacrificial death and high-priestly office but in animal sacrifices and the system of cohanim which the Torah set up to administer them—then it is impossible to renew them so that they turn from their sin, as long as for themselves they keep on executing the Son of God on the stake all over again. The reason is that they ignore what his death on the stake means, as proved by their trusting in animal sacrifices instead of his sacrifice. Thus they keep holding him up to public contempt by not glorifying his death as an atoning death but seeing it as having no special significance, so that his execution as a criminal becomes the dominant fact about it 3

When people deny Y’shua their hearts become hard and they become hard. They look down on and make fun of believers in Y’shua, and the fruit of the Spirit is not seen in their lives. They may do good works, but it is all superficial. This is why it becomes impossible to renew them to repentance.

He who rejects Y’shua, rejects the Father and the gifts He has given through the atoning death of Y’shua. Spiritual authority, is one of these gifts, but most importantly the Ruach ha Qodesh.

Luke 10:16
16 “The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

This is serious, be careful of what you read, who you listen to and who you associate with. Choose your friends and teachers wisely, it could cost you your salvation.

Let us continue with the topic at hand.

In Christian circles, the phrase “ pleading the blood of Y’shua” is commonly used. We as Torah observant believers in Y’shua may frown on this, but the question is “don’t they perhaps know something we don’t?” As part of our ongoing study on the spiritual realm, we want to uncover if this is biblical or not.

We will focus on Scripture as our basis to see what we can learn about this.

Pleading the blood of Y’shua

The phrase “I plead the blood of Y’shua over this or that” is used whenever there is a need for extra protection. Is this Biblical? The answer to this is not as straightforward as it may seem. Some would rightly say you cannot employ a phrase and expect protection from it. That is true, for doing this could indeed be regarded superstition or mysticism or even idolatry. We cannot give power to a phrase.

The phrase “in the name of Y’shua” is similar to this. If we employ this the wrong way, we turn a phrase into a formula or mystical power. When we study Scripture, we learn that we can use the phrase “in Y’shua’s name,” but with a certain understanding. You can read the detail in the article linked above.

The phrase “pleading the blood of Y’shua” likewise has an understanding attached to it. Firstly, the word pleading does not refer to begging, it is more like an attorney making a plea on legal grounds based on evidence. So, it is like presenting the evidence of what Y’shua did, everything that is encompassed in the phrase “through the blood of Y’shua” Everything we have written about and more; it is about cleansing, redemption, new beginnings, spiritual authority and YHVH’s Spirit in us. That is all included in this phrase and that is what we plead. It is like leaving a calling card in the spiritual realm, with written on it that we are children of the Living Elohim who has power over all. The power of Y’shua’s blood is greater that anything. Greater than any spiritual oppression, demonic influence or temptation.

The blood of Y’shua can be compared to the blood on the lintels at the first Passover.

Blood as a sign and protection

Exodus 12:13
13 ‘The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

The blood on the doorposts was a sign and due to this sign the inhabitants of the house were protected from the plague. They were delivered from the destroyer sent by YHVH to kill the firstborn.

Exodus 12:23
23 “For YHVH will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, YHVH will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.

We have again been saved by blood if we have accepted Y’shua’s atoning sacrifice, which He gave on our behalf.

Romans 5:9–10
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of Elohim through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to Elohim through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

In Y’shua, through His blood, we have life and are saved from the wrath of YHVH. We are covered by His blood.

Blood covenant

When someone was in a blood covenant with another, he would be covered by the blood of that person. It means that if anyone brings harm to him, or his family, the one he is in covenant with, will avenge it. We are in the same way covered by Y’shua’s blood.

Matthew 26:28
28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 13:20
20 Now the Elohim of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Y’shua our Master,

Y’shua’s blood was shed for us to reconcile us back to the Father. His blood atoned for us, so through His sacrificial death, we are at-one with the Father. When we are reconciled to the Father, He puts a protective hedge around us. This hedge, as we have written about before, can be taken away by YHVH to test us, but also as a result of our sin. You can read more about this in the articles about defiled land and strongholds.

Conclusion

I hope you have come to realize how precious Y’shua’s blood is to us. When YHVH sent His Son to take our sins upon Himself, and take the punishment thereof, He gave the most precious gift in order to reconcile us back to Him. Y’shua was part of YHVH’s plan from the beginning. Through Y’shua, we are cleansed, righteous before YHVH. Through Y’shua, we have eternal redemption, we have spiritual authority against the forces of darkness. But, best of all, through Y’shua we have the Rauch ha Qodesh (YHVH’s Set Apart Spirit) dwelling in us, enabling us to live in obedience.

We have learned that it is important to keep YHVH’s commandments, but some now deem that more important than their faith in Y’shua. This is deception! This deception is not new either. It has been written about by the author of the book of Hebrews:

Hebrews 10:28–31
28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of Elohim, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “YHVH will judge His people.” 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living Elohim.

People, please consider this, don’t allow yourselves to be deceived by the anti-missionaries. Be vigilant, don’t listen to their teachings. You may think your foundation is strong enough, but it may not be…

1 Corinthians 10:12
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.

  1. Shalum Ahki Todah, I have a question, What is an anti missionary.

    1. Shalom Simon,

An anti-missionary is a Jewish believer or a former Torah observant believer in Messiah, who has made it his purpose in life to convince believers in Y’shua Messiah that Y’shua is not the Messiah and that the Apostolic Sciptures (New Testament) was simply a bunch of gnostic writings. We have met a few and they can be very persistent. They usually do as if they want to befriend believers in Messiah or they want to debate or teach Torah observant believers. Best is not to get involved in their debates and not to listen to their teachings. They have led many a believer in Y’shua astray and has caused many to deny Y’shua as the Messiah.

They say they embrace “returning Ephraim” or us torah observant believers in Y’shua, but all they really want to do is get us to convert to Judaism and be under their authority. Be aware of this, you can find them anywhere and they are very active on Facebook and social media

      Hope this helps

  2. Todah for your response. we give people an ear but we are very careful and take what anyone writes an tells us and subject it to the obedience of Mashiach.. We don’t use any chat sites like face book we only listern to those that are in line with scripter and Have a tob heart and produce tob fruit. and agree for the most part with each other regarding salvation issues. And understand that we may not all ways agree on every thing but that should not get in the way of us coming together in YAHUSHA MASHIACH and ABBA YAHUAH we are all learning and want to do our very best for our ABBA. So we tend to learn from and follow those that have that type of outlook and heart about these issues. We link only to your website and living branch Hebrew assembly directed by MedadYahu who’s teaching for the last 6 weeks or so have been almost exactly the same as yours about the spiritual realm and were almost titled the same too, which to us was a confirmation that these messages were from YAHUAH as we now had two witness saying and teaching the same thing identical at the same time and even this message you taught was the same to a point, as he also warned us about coming under the covering of certain teachers or teachings and to be very careful, he gave this Shabbat lesson the same day you sent out yours, as has bean with all the other teachings you both have done. We praise YAHUAH for you both and eagleshavenministry directed by EliYahu you are all a barachot to us todah Ahki we lookforward to your next lesson. Shalum For now.
