We recently received a comment on an article we posted on modesty. This article was written by an anonymous author. It gave his point of view on modesty. This prompted us to write our understanding of what is written in the Word on modesty, so here it is. This article is not only about modesty, but also about the holy and the profane; the set apart and the common.
We live in a time where moral values have become unimportant and people, for the most part, live for self. Modesty is not something that is considered in worldly circles, on the contrary; it is regularly laughed at. Being immodestly dressed is even considered trendy. The profane is elevated and set apartness is scoffed at. It is one of the signs of the times we live in. Immodesty is one of the devices Satan uses to destroy moral values, marriages and our youth. In this study, we shall learn about set apart modesty. Set apart modesty is about distinguishing between the holy and the profane. This includes dress, behavior and speech.
The pressures and temptations of the world are real and intense. We are confronted with it daily. Our relationships are in many ways impacted by it, especially our marriages. Many marriages are not strong enough to stand through all this. How can we be prepared to face these challenges when they come our way? How do we make sure we have a strong foundation that will endure the storms of life?
We are often told that the scepter has been entrusted to Judah based on Genesis 49:9-10. However, if you follow the advice we gave you last week and reread these verses, you will see that these verses tell you that the scepter will pass from Judah. I believe that this has already happened and Judah no longer has the scepter or the ruler’s staff. Y’shua has taken this back from Judah and His followers now follow Him alone. Do not confuse the ruler with “the chosen people”! Israel is and always will be YHVH’s chosen people. Judah and Ephraim will always be a part of Israel, as will the “gentiles” that add themselves to YHVH and His covenants as bondservants. Allow me to be your alarm clock and wake you up.
