And they lived happily ever after…

A marriage is like a long trip in a tiny rowboat: if one passenger starts to rock the boat, the other has to steady it; otherwise they will go to the bottom together. –David Robert Reuben Success in marriage is more than finding the right person: it is being the right person. –Robert Browning These two quotes are true. David Robert Reuben and Robert Browning were not the first people to say something about marriage. Much has been said about marriage. Many books have been written about the subject, yet if we look at the divorce statistics we see something is seriously wrong. I believe one reason for marriages not lasting, is because instead of looking to YHVH’s word for guidance in marriage, people tend to look to pop psychology for help and answers. Lots of instruction on marriage can be found in scripture. In this article, we will look a bit deeper into what marriage is. There are certain aspects about marriage that make this union unique.

  • Knowing YHVH

    Knowing YHVH

An artist is known by his work. If you were to show a person interested in art a certain masterpiece, he will know who the artist is. YHVH is the greatest Artist ever. His art is visible all around us, in every living being and creature, in nature, in the setting of the sun. YHVH can reveal Himself in this way to us for He is the Creator of all. This is not the only way YHVH reveals Himself to us…

  • Who Am I?

    Who Am I?

When we become believers, we become children of YHVH. He is our Father who loves us unconditionally and wants the best for us. If we did not have an earthly father who modelled this love for us, or failed us in any way, we may not be able to fully comprehend this love the Father has for us. It is human nature to equate our perception of our earthly father with whom we think YHVH is. The reality is that our earthly fathers will fail us and this will give us a flawed perception of who YHVH is. If your father didn’t protect you, you will have difficulty is trusting YHVH for protection. If your father always criticized you, you will see YHVH as a Father looking for faults in you. This brokenness robs us of the blessing of our Father’s love and makes it difficult or impossible for us to have a relationship with Him built on absolute trust. We need to study the word and find our true identity in Y’shua.

  • The Way of the Nations

    The Way of the Nations

There are two ways we can follow in life: the way of YHVH or the way of the nations. YHVH has given us free will so we choose which way we follow. However, even if we think we follow YHVH’s way, we might, unknowingly, be following the way of the nations. The way of the nations may inadvertently have infiltrated our lives in some form. In order to determine what this means and if my statement is true or not, we need to define “the way of the nations.” It can be defined as anything contrary to YHVH’s word or ways.

  • Free from Captivity

    Free from Captivity

We become holy or set apart by the process of sanctification. YHVH wants us to be set apart people for Him. Sanctification is the process of removing everything that causes separation between us and YHVH. The process of sanctification started for us with obedience to His Word. As we learned how YHVH wanted us to live, we left behind the ways of the world and followed His way. We repented of our lawlessness and became more sanctified. this is an ongoing process, it is a journey. There is, however, more to the process of sanctification. I know this since I have experienced this, I felt that something was holding me back spiritually and I didn’t know what it was. I found the answer in getting free from the captivity caused by the iniquity of my forefathers. This is also a part of this sanctification process and many people don’t realize they they are being held captive.

  • The mind will justify what the heart desires.

The mind will justify what the heart desires.

The mind will justify what the heart desires. This is not only true when it comes to the keeping of YHVH’s commandments. The fears in our hearts can ruin us. Our mind is able to bend reality to justify not only our desires, but also these fears. Our hearts are deceitful and evil comes forth from it. Our challenge is to overcome this through repentance and seek YHVH’s kingdom and counsel in everything we do.
