    Blessings and curses are a reality in Scripture, but also in our lives. We don’t always realize it, because we are so far removed from YHVH’s ways. In some circles, blessings and curses are regarded as words having intrinsic power or magic. We don’t see it as magic, but if you read Scripture, you will see that blessings and curses are powerful. In this article and the next, we will learn why this is so. We will first look at blessings and curses from YHVH’s perspective and also from the perspective of us as believers and how we are affected by these blessings and curses even in our day.

    Two years ago we started celebrating Shavuot differently. This day, to us, is a day on which we renew our commitment to YHVH. Much like married couples do when they renew their wedding vows. We do this in the form of a proclamation, because we are commanded to make a procalmation on this day. This short article is to explain the motivation behind this and how we do it.
