The Sabbatical year is a picture of provision. All the instructions regarding this commandment points to provision. The releasing of debt and slaves. The cessation of all field labour for a year. These are very challenging instructions. To keep the Sabbatical year requires absolute dedication. Dedication in our obedience towards our Elohim.

What is implied when Peter writes, “one day is like a thousand years” (2 Pet 3:8)? Is this a literal thousand years? We have been taught to believe that; I for one have never questioned it before. We also have to determine the context and how broad we can apply it. This study started out as a quick look-up of this phrase but, as I studied, I realized that it is a key to understanding some of the Bible prophecies.
I have often heard the phrase “When you enter the land” mentioned in discussion on the applicability to a specific commandment. I have previously spoken about our logic getting in the way of our obedience. Could the use of this condition be another example of us trying to reason which of the instructions of YHVH to obey? A good example of this is the sabbatical year. Should we or shouldn’t we keep the instructions regarding the sabbatical year? Is it only applicable to people living in Israel or is it applicable to all? What about the pilgrimage feasts? Should we go to Israel three times a year or not? Let us do a detailed study of this phrase and see what conclusions we can make and how that needs to be applied in our lives today.
In my previous post I wrote about how YHVH calls us back to Him. When we respond to His call and return to Him in repentance through Y’shua; He will restore us back unto Him. Sukkot is a picture of that restoration. It is a special time of gladness unto YHVH. We are redeemed by Him and He will teach us His way. He will through His Word and His cycles of righteousness teach us His manner of doing things -His set apart way. Sukkot is also a prophetic picture of the Kingdom of Heaven when Y’shua will return and rule over us . Y’shua will come for His bride and Sukkot is a prophetic picture of the wedding feast. Then comes the 8th day of complete peace and restoration unto YHVH. Will we answer His call and be restored back to Him in obedience to His Word? Will we allow Him to teach us His way?
