The Power of a Blessing and a Curse

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Spiritual Warfare

Blessings and curses are a reality in Scripture, but also in our lives. We don’t always realize it, because we are so far removed from YHVH’s ways. In some circles, blessings and curses are regarded as words having intrinsic power or magic. We don’t see it as magic, but if you read Scripture, you will see that blessings and curses are powerful. In this article and the next, we will learn why this is so. We will first look at blessings and curses from YHVH’s perspective and also from the perspective of us as believers and how we are affected by these blessings and curses even in our day.

Growing a vegetable garden in the Sabbatical year?

Written by Schalk_and_Elsa. Posted in Sabbatical Year

We are in the process of preparing for the Sabbatical year which will start in the spring (Aviv) of 2016. As we get closer to the time, we get questions and comments from others who plan to keep, or oppose the keeping of the Sabbatical year. One comment we received was that a family sized vegetable garden would be exempt from the Sabbatical year commandments due to the following reasons. Vegetables tend not to self seed, have a broad growing season and are not harvested in a bulk way.

I value these comments even if they oppose our understanding, because it gives us an opportunity to dig deeper and learn more. In this case I actually want them to be correct seeing that vegetables are more difficult to store and we use so much of it. However, I will remain objective and I believe YHVH will help us find the truth.

So, is our own family-sized vegetable garden exempt from the requirements of the Sabbatical year or are we required to keep these instructions?

Tithing is quite a controversial topic. Many different opinions and interpretations exist on this topic. The third year tithe is even more so. In this article, we will give you some background on tithing in general, but more specifically, on this tithe and we will answer the many questions we have received about it. Many people are becoming aware of this and want to know how they are to understand and do it. We want to share our understanding with you. We are new to this too, it will be the second time we give the third tithe, but we believe it to be very important and a test of our faithfulness to YHVH. We will elaborate more on this later in the article.
