A Scriptural introduction to angels
In the last couple of articles, we have started investigating the spiritual dimension of the Scriptures. When we talk about the spiritual dimension we also need to talk about the spiritual beings. In Scripture we find a number of references to heavenly beings. What exactly does Scripture teach us about angels, and which parts of what we think we know is made up by man through time? Should we do the commandments, if we can’t do it all properly?
It is almost the seventh Biblical month, and the fall feasts are just around the corner. YHVH gave us these feasts as celebrations, but also as teaching aids to learn more about Him and His Kingdom. As the feasts draw near, we need to look into what YHVH requires of us, because we want to please Him. This sometimes leads to discouragement, because we can’t keep all the commandments due to the absence of a Temple. Some people even teach that we, in the diaspora, are not to celebrate the feasts at all because we don’t live in the land. This mindset affects other areas as well, and we have been asked if we are to do the commandments at all seeing that we can’t do it all properly. We shall first seek to find proof that we are to keep the commandments wherever we are and then see if we can find out to what an extend we are to do it.

Disobedience is not a game, it could change the course of your life
What if your next act of disobedience changes the course of your life? Have you ever considered this? I am not talking about losing a blessing as a result of being disobedient; I am talking about a profound change. YHVH is very patient with us; I don’t think we realize just how much. Will He always be? Or will His patience with us run out? In this study, we look at the lives of different people in the Bible to find answers to these questions.

They say there are giants in the land…
This probably sounds like something out of a fable, but it’s very real. We all have experience with giants in our lives. Allow us to explain… We all face trails from time to time. Difficult trials, that overwhelm us with such an intensity that we do not know where to turn to or what to do. These trials may be due to a bad report. You may be facing this right now, even amidst other trials. When you hear this report, your whole world may be crushing down in front of your eyes. These bad reports are like the message the Israelites were confronted with when the spies returned and reported back about the land. They reported of giants and saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to them. The Israelites, having already been stretched a bit by what has happened to them since they left Egypt, now has to face this bad report. It has been more than a year of difficulties and now this. It must have been quite overwhelming to them. Have you experienced such a situation?

What exactly is the Sinai Covenant ? – Covenants – Part 4
An investigation into the covenant that YHVH made with the people He led out of Egypt. The Sinai covenant is a lot more complex and controversial than the Abrahamic covenant. The Sinai covenant was conceived to be a type of “suzerain treaty†establishing YHVH as king and Israel as the vassal. Why was it necessary for YHVH to create another covenant with Israel? He already had a covenant with their forefathers. The Sabbath is to serve as the reminder of this covenant. Why would YHVH specifically choose the Sabbath as the sign?
